Peanut Butter Oreo Blondies – easy chewy peanut butter blondies filled with tasty pieces of peanut butter flavour Oreos; utterly heavenly! Post sponsored by Oreo.
I am a huge fan of Oreos (I mean, who isn’t really?!), so when I found out that they had brought out a new range of Oreo flavours I just had to try them all! They did not disappoint and I can confirm that all of the new flavours are totally yummy. (more…)
Nutty bourbon brownies – gooey, fudgy brownies with a boozy kick and plenty of crunchy nuts.
It has been a long time since I shared a brownie recipe on here; I am making up for that though with these nutty bourbon brownies as they are very, very good! I actually made the recipe a while ago but hadn’t gotten round to sharing it here, looking at the pictures again is making me think that I will have to bake another batch! (more…)
I’m heading off to Bloodstock festival tomorrow; I go to at least one festival every year and am usually very well prepared way in advance. This year however it seems like time has gone by much quicker than usual and I am utterly unprepared, so today is going to be spent in a mad rush trying to get everything packed and sorted. I haven’t even cleaned our tent after last years camping so that is going to be a grim job! (more…)
I opened up my kitchen baking cupboard the other day and was met with a pile of packets falling on my head. That seemed like a pretty clear sign that it was high time I had a bit of a clearout and used up a few half empty packets of ingredients that had been in there too long. These chewy, no-bake peanut butter granola bars were my attempt to finish off a random selection of odds and ends of nuts, seeds, cereal and dried fruit. (more…)
Welcome to my review of the March 2016 Degustabox. If you’re not familiar with the Degustabox then in brief it’s a subscription service whereby each month you’re sent a box full of goodies to try; most are either new brands or products and it works out far cheaper than buying everything individually in the shops. It is a bit of a lottery however as you have no idea what you will be sent, some products you may love, and others you might not be so keen on; the surprise element is quite fun though, and it encourages you to try products that you wouldn’t normally think to buy. If you fancy giving a box a try yourself then simply enter the discount code BLDEG15 at the checkout and you’ll get £6 off your first order! (more…)
I honestly thought that these brownies were going to be rubbish; this was my first time baking with coconut flour and I just made the recipe up as I went along. They didn’t look like anything much when I pulled them out of the oven and they don’t have that much coveted shiny, flaky brownie crust; but when I bit into one I was totally converted, they are extremely good. So rich, fudgy and chocolatey that they are practically indistinguishable from the best regular flour/refined sugar/butter laden brownies. And yet they are free from gluten, grains, refined sugar AND dairy and are made using several highly nutritious ingredients so you can enjoy a slice without feeling too guilty. (more…)
Valentines day is fast approaching and while I have no plans to celebrate it personally (I’m not single, we just don’t really do Valentines), I will happily take any excuse to do a spot of baking, especially when said baking involves copious amounts of chocolate… So I made brownies, because a warm, gooey brownie topped with a generous dollop of ice cream would be my Valentines day dessert of choice. These brownies are elevated beyond regular brownie territory by the addition of strawberries and cream flavoured Lindor truffles, which meld with the dense, fudgy brownie, creating pockets of strawberry and cream flavour. I’ve been trying to keep fairly healthy this month, and other than gradually polishing off the remains of the Christmas chocolates I’ve been doing quite well; I’m not dieting per se, just cutting back on the cakes and biscuits for a while. I still find myself in need of a daily mid-morning snack however, something that I can just grab and go and that satisfies any sweet cravings I may have. A granola bar fits the bill well but I think that when it comes to most shop bought versions they are not actually very healthy (or filling) so you may as well just be eating a bar of chocolate…so I made my own, and crammed them full of super healthy and filling ingredients. Do you ever get a niggling idea in your head that just won’t go away? The seedling of a fully formed plan that intrudes on your thoughts and gets stuck in your mind, germinating, until it is eventually transformed into a brilliant, fully-fledged idea…. It started with mousse. All I knew at that point is that I wanted to make some mousse of some sort. I sat on that idea for a couple of weeks, in the meantime planning Valentines day baking, which got me thinking about red velvet…which got me thinking about cream cheese, because what is a red velvet cake without the iconic cream cheese icing?! (It’s the best bit!) My mind put the cream cheese and the mousse together… then spread it on top of some red velvet brownies… and added ganache, and then threw in some oreos for good measure… And red velvet brownies with oreo cream cheese mousse and chocolate ganache were born!
