Last week I took a trip to London courtesy of Arla to have a lovely lunch and learn a bit more about fibre and the newly launched Arla Fibre yogurts. It is currently freezing cold and snowy here so all I can think about eating is hearty comfort foods and puddings. So it is somehow December already and I have done no Christmas shopping or planning whatsoever; I wont be hosting Christmas lunch (my house is essentially a building site at the moment) but I do need to make dessert and some Christmassy nibbles. I did manage to be organised enough to bake a rich Christmas fruitcake last week though; I haven’t yet decided how I want to decorate it but I’ve got a few weeks left to come up with something. Last week I spoke about Spring having finally arrived, the weather getting warmer and the sun making an appearance…. well my happiness was sadly very short-lived as soon after that post was published the weather took a turn for the worse and it has been cold, wet, windy and miserable since then. So much for craving light, summery salads and barbecue foods; I have gone back to cooking hearty soups, stews and comfort foods such as this slow cooked lamb Rogan Josh which I served with rice and some quick, flaky roti flatbreads.
