Review – Joseph Joseph Titan Trash Compactor

August 8, 2017 by hannahhossack 5 Comments

Joseph Joseph Titan Trash Compactor

Yes, this is a review of a bin, but the Titan trash compactor is no ordinary rubbish bin; It features a patented, hygienic compaction system that allows it to hold up to 3 times more waste inside than any other bin of the same size. Because it enables you to compact your waste, it means that it doesn’t need to be emptied as often, saving you money on bin liners. Also, If you are one of those unfortunate enough to have been cut down to alternate week bin collection then it means that you don’t fill up your outside bin as quickly.

The compaction system is easy to use, you simply lift up a handle and push it down. The way it is designed means that only the inside of the bin liner touches the waste so it is completely hygienic – you don’t get any mess on your hands or on the outside of the bin liner. Titan also features an anti-tear design that won’t stretch or pinch the liner; it is compatible with standard plastic liners, but extra-strong custom fit liners are also available from the website. Fitting the liner is a little tricky at first but once you know what you are doing it is easy; you simply slide it into the four slots around the top of the bin (don’t worry, it comes with instructions!).

Discreetly integrated into the lid is an odour filter compartment that holds a replaceable carbon filter to neutralise any unpleasant smells. I’m not sure how effective this is as we have a separate bin for food waste.

The bin itself is sleek and stylish with a fingerprint-proof stainless-steel coating which is easy to clean. Due to the rectangular design it sits neatly against a wall and is quite unobtrusive and would work well in most kitchens.

Titan is also built to last! Its compaction system and foot pedal have been tested over 100,000 times and are engineered to withstand repeated downward force; it even comes with a ten year guarantee. I’ve been using it for over a month now and have only had to empty it once! We do have separate bins for both recycling and food waste but even so, with our previous bin we still had to empty it at least once every two weeks so this is a marked improvement and I will never go back to a regular bin again!

If you want to see Titan in action then there is a little video below.

I was sent the Titan Trash Compactor for the purposes of this review but I wasn’t expected to write a positive review and all opinions are my own.

Nice review. Our problem hasn’t been the trash can itself, but the flimsy rotation components that connect the handle and the “compactor”. It falls apart constantly, the spring flies out and the pieces break. Can’t find replacement parts anywhere. Doesnt really work without it and we have had it less than 6 months. Love the concept but the product has some to be desired.

Hi Lisa, I have no idea I’m afraid, that is something that you would have to contact Joseph Joseph directly about.

exactly the same issue – the plastic lugs have tiny catches that didnt even last us 2 weeks. tried to get replacements from going to the retailer that sold us the bin, but they didn’t want to know about it. they have stopped selling Joseph Joseph products. told us to try and get hold of manufacturer directly – waste of time and a LOT of money these definitely are NOT cheap

It’s a great idea and I have no problem with the trash bin itself but after compacting the trash, the bags are too heavy and when removing the bag they just rip in your hands. 🙁 I wish the bags were tougher/stronger!
